The ICC International Code of Advertising and Marketing Communication Practice (2006) applies to all media along with the Principles of Good Marketing Practice of the Council of Ethics in Advertising (last amended in 2008).

Complaints handling

Complaints referred to MEN must be submitted in writing. Complaints from consumers are handled free of charge. A charge is levied if the complainant is a company. Statements of the MEN are not legally binding.

Copy advice/pre-clearance

Copy advice was launched in 2003. An advertiser may request a preliminary statement on an advertisement. A preliminary statement is subject to a charge. It is non-binding and confidential.

Complaints to LTL must be submitted in writing.  Adjudications are not legally binding. Cases decided by LTL are sometimes subsequently referred to the Market Court. LTL levies a charge per adjudication.

Copy advice/pre-clearance

A marketer who is planning a campaign may request an opinion from the LTL. This service is subject to a charge. LTL does not carry out pre-clearance.
