The Code of Practice was first adopted in 1991 and has undergone eight revisions since then.

Complaints handling

ICAP handles complaints submitted by competitors (both members and non-members), consumers, consumer associations, statutory bodies and other interested parties.

For consumers and consumer associations, this service is free of charge and they can submit a complaint through an on-line form available on ICAP website. A fee is chared for competitor complaints and for non-members.

Copy advice/pre-clearance

The Technical Legal Cabinet provides copy advice to members and non-members. All ICAP advertiser members have access to unlimited free copy advice. Agency and media members are entitled to free copy advice for 10 advertisements and subsequently pay a fee per advice. Non-members also need to pay for this service. ICAP does not carry out pre-clearance.
