The scope of the Austrian Self- Regulatory Code applies to all media.

Complaints handling

The ÖWR handles complaints from both consumers and competitors. In both cases, complaints are handled free of charge. Complaints must be submitted in writing or via the on-line complaint form on the ÖWR website, with an explanation of the grounds for the complaint and a description or example of the offending advertisement.

Copy advice/pre-clearance

The ÖWR introduced a copy advice system in 2004. Advice on creative executions is available free of charge to both members and non-members, and is provided by a committee comprising the Presidency (that is the Chairman plus two Vice-Chairmen) and the Director General. The ÖWR does not pre-clear advertisements.
