The Notes of Guidance are regularly updated. They comprise both general rules and sector- and product-specific guidelines. ARPP's Notes of Guidance are endorsed by its members.

 

Complaints handling

Complaints from both consumers and competitors are handled free of charge by the JDP (Jury de Déontologie Publicitaire) which is an independent authority. Complaints can be lodged with the JDP by accessing its website www.jdp-pub.org, if possible with a copy of the offending ad.

 

Copy advice/pre-clearance

Advertisers and media in membership of ARPP may seek copy advice at the pre-publication stage. ARPP's copy advice legal department is staffed by specialists in the legal aspects of advertising and provides non-binding advice on all forms of media – television, press, radio, outdoor, internet, etc. No charge is made for copy advice.

 

Television advertising: Advertisers are required to submit finished television commercials to ARPP's pre-clearance. A registration form must be completed, as a legal requirement, by anyone wishing to advertise on television; The registration form can be purchased from https://www.arppenligne.org and filled out online; registration is carried out by ARPP. A charge is made for pre-clearance.
