The scope of  the Code of Advertising Practice applies to all media.

Complaints handling

The ASA SA Directorate deals with consumer and competitor complaints. Complaints can be made by post, e-mail or fax and via an on-line complaint form on the ASA SA website.

Copy advice/pre-clearance

ASA SA offers advice on the principles of the Code, but not on specific advertisements. Pre-publication advice is available from independent consultants. Most significantly, copy advice is provided by the Association for Communication and Advertising, the industry body for advertising agencies.

There is no requirement in South Africa to pre-clear advertisements.
