SRO Members News CENTRAL & EASTERN EUROPE CZECH REPUBLIC (CRPR) CRPR is due to host a workshop on Central and Eastern European issues and celebrate its 5th Anniversary in Prague on 20-21 September, 1999. The conclusions will be fully reported in the next edition of the Update. On 5 October 1999, CRPR will hold its second seminar on self-regulation, new media legislation, EU directives in Brno. It is aimed at students and representatives of Czech Republic Licence authorities. HUNGARY (ORT) ORT held its AGM - September, 1999, Budapest A new Education Law was passed in June under which kindergartens, schools, and dormitories will now be at liberty to define advertising rules within educational institutions so long as the advertising is targeted at children or students and that it encourages a healthy lifestyle, environmental protection, a social-public or cultural activity…" RUSSIA (OSR) Two sessions on self-regulation are planned for later on this year; one in the form of a roundtable and the other in the form of a workshop. Major expansions in the codes are envisaged in the areas of alcohol and tobacco advertising. This year's Golden Drum Advertising Festival will take place from 4-8 October in the Slovenian beach resort of Portoroz.
