In order to assist the understanding of advertising self-regulation of both practitioners, professional observers and the layperson, the EASA has produced a number of guides which are detailed below. These are available free of charge from EASA or can be downloaded.

 

Self-Regulation: The Essentials - A Layman's guide to self-regulation

This guide is designed for the lay person whether a newcomer to advertising and its regulation or an individual consumer citizen. It provides information on what self-regulation is, how it works, who it involves, how national and cross-border complaints are handled and what generally can be found in place across Europe. it is essential reading for a newcomer to this subject. EASA Guide to Self-regulation - How to set up an self-regulatory organisation (SRO)

This Guide is a technical one. It is designed for the advertising practitioner, the informed civil servant or academic researcher. It aims to explain what advertising self-regulation is, what the essential elements of a self-regulatory organisation (SRO) are and how to set about putting a system in place.
