The scope of the Dutch Advertising Code applies to all media and can be consulted online.
Any member of the public can complain in writing to the SRC, preferably using the Online complaint form and otherwise by mail, with details of the advertisement complained of, why it is thought to be in breach of the Code and, where possible, a copy of the advertisement. This service is free of charge.
Competitive complaints as well as complaints submitted by a professional body or a company are also handled but are charged.
SRC currently offers copy advice through Check SRC.
Advertisements for medicines, treatments and health products need to be pre-cleared by KOAG/KAG, a fee applies. Pre-clearance is mandatory for alcohol advertising on radio and television, which is done by STIVA (Foundation for Responsible Use of Alcohol). Also, a fee is charged for this service. Print, outdoor and web alcohol advertisements are cleared on a voluntary basis, i.e. at the request of the advertiser.
