The AVMSD lays down the provisions by law, regulation or administrative action in Member States concerning the audiovisual media services.

It will officially enter into force on 19th December 2018. The transposition period of 21 months will end on 19 September 2020, by which all Member States will be required to have brought into force the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with the revised Directive by 19 September 2020.
